Arthur M. Smith, M.D. Urology Education Fund

The Arthur M. Smith, M.D. Urology Education Fund provides financial support for medical students who are interested in urology as a career to experience a clinical rotation with the MCG Department of Urology. The opportunity is open to all medical students attending accredited medical schools in the U.S. with a preference for medical students from populations underrepresented in medicine. A designated Department of Urology faculty member(s) will make the selection.

The fund will be used to provide a stipend to assist students from outside institutions with travel and living expenses related to relocating to our area to complete their clinical rotation in the Urology Department.

The fund honors the late Dr. Arthur Smith, a longtime MCG Urology faculty member, and a gifted surgeon and teacher. Donate Now >

Atwood, MD ’84, F.A.C.S., and Nancy Stead Atwood, former MCG faculty and retired oncologist, have established the Alan R. and Nancy Stead Atwood Scholarship for MCG students enrolled at the AU/UGA Medical Partnership campus in Athens, Georgia.  The sole criteria is for the scholarship to be awarded to medical students (to be medical doctors) at the AU/UGA Medical Partnership campus.
