Bryant W. Wilson, MD and Andi Schwartz Surgery Residency Education

Endowment Fund #: 8361-T | Expendable Fund #: 8361-P| Type: Program | Area: Medical College of Georgia | Department: Medicine

Thanks to a generous gift from Dr. Bryant W. Wilson, and his wife, Andi Schwartz, the Bryant W. Wilson and Andi Schwartz Surgery Residency Education Endowment Fund has been established. This gift will help to ensure annual support to send surgery residents to professional conferences to present their research findings and to learn from others.
Dr. Wilson credits his wife, Andi and their son and daughter, Sam and Whitley, for making his over 30-year surgical career possible via their unwavering support and sacrifices.
Dr. Wilson and Ms. Schwartz have established this fund as a way to honor their family and the countless number of teachers along the way who helped Dr. Wilson to acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to become a surgeon. These individuals have also inspired Dr. Wilson and Ms. Schwartz’s giving of their time and resources to support the Medical College of Georgia’s surgery program.
Dr. Wilson practiced general surgery in Atlanta for 32 years. During that time, his primary practice was at Piedmont Medical Center Atlanta. During his practice, Dr. Wilson served on several hospital committees and participated in programs to improve quality and safety for patient care. He also enjoyed participating in surgical organizations and societies serving in leadership positions as well.
Dr. Wilson received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in 1983. He performed his internship at Georgia Baptist Medical Center and his surgical residency at the Medical College in 1988. Dr. Wilson received his undergraduate degree in English from the University of Georgia. Both Dr. Wilson and Ms. Schwartz are natives of Atlanta. Dr. Wilson attended the Westminster Schools for high school.
