MCG Neurology Department

Support the Neurology Department Fund

We’re Growing

The MCG Department of Neurology is undergoing a period of rapid growth.  We have six new faculty members who have joined us in the past year.  They are Ben Barnes, Danielle Weiss, Dilip Singh, Mithilesh Siddu, and Elizabeth Rutkowski.  We also have additional recent hires who will be on board shortly.  Further, we have additional recruitments ongoing in neuromuscular, epilepsy and headache medicine.  Our residency has expanded to six residents per year and we have added a new fellowship in neurointerventional with plans to offer additional fellowship opportunities in neurocritical care and epilepsy.

Our Graduates Are Exceptional

Our recent graduates continue to make us proud.  Rafael Perez-Rodriguez is currently in his first year of a two-year epilepsy fellowship at Emory.  Kenny Sustanto is pursuing a Movement disorder fellowship at Yale.  Laveena Singla is at University of Pittsburgh for her Epilepsy fellowship.  Amjad Abdullah is working as a neurohospitalist at Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids, Michigan, joining two former alumni, Nabil Wees and Michelle De Jesus, in practice.

We Want to Hear From You

Going forward, we want to engage you more in our program.  We will be having additional outreach because we want to hear from you and learn more about how your career is commencing. We would also love to have you back to campus (virtual or otherwise) and participate in grand rounds.  More to come on some of these ideas.

Alumni Support is Cherished

In my brief two years as Chair, I have come to appreciate the impact that alumni financial support has on the day-to-day activity of the department and the experiences and opportunities for our residents and fellows.  As we close out the year that has been 2020, please consider a donation to the department. This year our focus is on supporting our current residents for activities such as research, training materials and educational opportunities.  Your support will go far to help us carry the MCG Neurology legacy forward, and educate the next generations of Neurologists.

Thank you, and please do not hesitate to contact me personally if you have any follow-up questions.
