In just over six months, The HUB for Community Innovation has risen from an empty field and now is the home of five nonprofits, including the new location for Augusta University’s Literacy Center.

The Georgia Power Foundation announced the latest in continued support of the transformation of the Harrisburg-Laney Walker Community – a contribution of $2.5 million for the HUB for Community Innovation (the HUB).

Although Savannah River Brewing Co. was closed Thursday afternoon, several of its employees and some guests were on hand for a special presentation.

During a roundtable Thursday in Augusta, Gov. Brian Kemp applauded The Hub, a collaboration between multiple organizations in Augusta to create a community center for the Harrisburg and Laney-Walker neighborhoods.
